GifKiln is a small, independent set of media tools: video to GIF, images to GIF, GIF resizer, cropper, optimizer, speed changer and reverser, plus a video cutter, cropper, rotator, muter, converter and audio extractor.
It was built because the popular online editors upload every file to their servers. GifKiln does all the work in your browser instead. There are no accounts and no uploads. The site is supported by unobtrusive advertising, which never appears inside the tool.
Open-source software
Media processing uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly by the ffmpeg.wasm project (MIT). The FFmpeg core build includes GPL components such as x264; its source is available from the ffmpeg.wasm and FFmpeg projects. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard.
